Since we met,
my shadow has grown to know thirst.

It scoffs at the notion of compliance,
bends all hectic, strains all selfish,
loves like a shut eye to sleep,
starves for ignition, and

the old couple at the park noticed
how its hands seemed angled to hold yours;
how its breaths seemed to thieve the shape
of a hat for your heart's contours;

how it gushes. so full of light
your silent movie has been run right through me,
so lost in night I need your rubies
over blood, I need you
without knowing how or when or why,

need the ink of your shadow to write me as you do,
and for everything to carry me to you.
